Happy Holidays 12/28/09

I hope that everyone had a happy Christmas. I know that we did. I think that the kids got all that they wanted. This year we had a budget and kept to it. Usually I go over. I don't think that I have at the time, but it all ads up. This year we stuck to it!

My dear friends, the Nobuharas, welcomed their new baby on December 23. She is beautiful! I do believe that all baby's are beautiful, but little Natalie is especially so.

As usual I was sewing until the wee hours of the morning on the 24. I tried in vain to make my mother in law some "sassy boots". They were a disaster!! I also tried to make basic house shoes for my step mother and they too were a disaster. I hate to admit it but when it comes to house shoes or slippers, for me, they are worth the money to purchase.

My family and I went to see the movie "Sherlock Holmes" on Christmas day. I thought that was a great movie. I am a Jude Law fan and quickly becoming a Robert Downey Jr fan as well. If any one is looking for a good movie to see that one is it.

That is all of the Booth family holiday. Now we can gear up for New Years!!!!!

Olympic Development Program

Today is Jaiden's final tryout for the Olympic Development Team. They are going to cut 8 girls from the 56 to make a final team of 48. I am happy and nervous for her. I fear that if she gets cut she will be crushed. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Kutter

My best friend Jill had her baby last week. I was so excited for her and her husband Cory. They named him Kutter Grant Marsh. He is so cute and snuggly. I have posted some pictures of him. Once Jaiden got to hold him she started in with "why don't you and Dad have a baby". I had to break the news to her that they don't always sleep and make cute little noises. She said she doesn't care, so I told her that when she was 25, married, and out of college she could have as many babies as she wanted.

Anyway Congratulations to Jill and Cory.

Olympic Development

As many of you may already know, Jaiden was trying out for the Olympic Development Team. Tryouts were held from Logan to St George. We found out last Thursday that Jaiden was selected as 1 of 56 girls in the state to participate in the final tryout. The program can only take 48 girls so 8 girls will be cut at the final. Jaiden was so excited and proud of herself. This was quite an accomplishment for her. To be picked as one of the best 56 in the state is quite an honor. We are hoping that she will do well in the final. I know that she will give her all, so in my book she has already won.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and then the Christmas buzz begins. For some it has already started. I was shocked to hear that some ladies in my neighborhood have already finished their Christmas shopping. Maybe I am the one that is strange but I don't even start until the day before Thanksgiving. John and I have made that the day we do our Christmas shopping. In the past we have found that almost everything that we wanted to get was on sale that day anyway. Not to mention that all the stores are stocked up and ready for black Friday. They usually plenty of people to help you and you don't have to wait in long lines. Of course my sister and I always go out on Black Friday anyway, what is Christmas if your feet, back, and arms don't hurt from shopping. Not to mention, the sudden spike in your blood pressure when you loose it on the stupid lady in the parking lot, at the light, in the line and so on.

Oh the Holiday !!!!!!

Reflections

This has been a great year for Reflections for Jaiden. She won an award of excellence in the film/video category. She spent about a month taking pictures everywhere. The them was "Beauty is". Jaiden's idea was to take a picture of anything she saw that was beautiful. When she was done she compiled the photos, picked out a song, and produced her video. She did a great job and was really excited to win. Her video will go on to be judged at district level.

Good job baby!

Getting Old

I went to the eye Doctor yesterday. This is the first time that I have been told by a Doctor that my age had anything to do with my health. I was so upset. He told me that I officially need glasses. Not the kind that you buy in the drug store, real glasses! I refuse to go down without a fight so I picked the loudest design of frames that they had.

The only good thing is, now that I have gained weight, over time I will eventually not be able to see it.

Yea......

Busy

I can't believe how busy things have gotten. The holiday season hasn't even started and I don't have time for a haircut. I tried to get a haircut appointment and couldn't get a time this week that would work. I know that many of you have crazy schedules like this all the time but I don't.

Jaiden completed her first ODP (Olympic Development Team) tryout on Saturday. She did well, however she was injured. She rolled her ankle in a scrimmage game in the middle of the tryout. She is all healed now and went to special training last night. I can't believe how much she loves soccer. I never played sports as a child, or adult for that matter. I never had the experience of being on a team and working so hard to be the best at a sport. The pressure that these kids deal with is unbelievable, but they handle it in the best way. I think that it is a great lesson for children to learn. Working hard for what you want. Sometimes they get it and are the best, but sometimes they are defeated and have to learn how to loose gracefully. I am so thankful for the coaches this team has. They are great examples and these girls look to them for advice. It is great to see!!!

O Baby

A funny story. I was at Costco one day and they had a display for "Kyle Beckerman" clothing.

For those of you who don't know who he is... He plays for the Real Soccer Team. I don't know if you can tell by the picture, but he is ONE of the best looking soccer players in the US (my opinion).

Back to the story - I started looking at the t-shirts for Jaiden (she loves him as well). The girl that was working told me that Kyle would be there that evening to sign the clothes and take pictures.

Needless to say I got Jaiden and her friend and teammate Marjia and we went to Costco. They got to meet him, talk to him (Jaiden was mostly quiet for once in her life),and take a picture with him. I have to say that he was so nice and willing to do what ever the girls wanted. It was funny Marjia had lots to say. Look out Mom and Dad.

It was allot of fun.

Halloween

Halloween was great fun this year. Jaiden decided that she was to old to go trick or treating with her Dad. She went with some friends. She had a great time! This year John and I decided to have a fire (in a fire pit of course) on the driveway, invite friends and neighbors, have food, sit back and watch the trick or treaters come. It was allot of fun for me. I think that a good time was had by all. I am so glad that I have great friends that have smaller children, and don't mind me tagging along. I get to experience all the great holidays with them. If I didn't have them I would be so sad!

So proud

I am so proud of Jaiden and her soccer team.

They had their last game yesterday evening. They won the game 4 - 0. That means that her team is undefeated in the fall season. They end the season in first place. This is the first year that they played AAA soccer. We have travled all over and met some great teams.

Now, some of the girls are trying out for the Olymipc Development Team. This group takes a handful of girls from the state and starts training them for the future Olympic Team. I don't know that she will make the team but I think it will be good for her to see how good she could be, as well as getting the experience.

Wish her luck.

About me

I am so glad to start blogging. I have always wanted to do this but had to share a computer with my husband. Given that he works from home my time was limited.

Just a little bit about me. I am a stay at home Mom. I like to think of myself as a "Trophy Wife" but I am not quite sure if that is the most accurate way to describe myself. I love to quilt and spend alot of time (and money) doing that. I also make bags, baby slings, baby car seat covers, aprons, and I am soon to be starting another project, sassy boots. I haven't made my first pair of those yet, I am hoping that they won't be to hard because they are sooooo cute!

I have one daughter, who is the light of my life. I also have a son that I share with his mom and my husband. He is 16 and is a great kid. A teenager, but a great kid overall.

All of my family lives here in Utah. My brother will soon be moving to Australia. His wife is a docter and has always wanted to work in Australia. He will be back a few months later. My husband and I have been married for 12 years.

I guess that is all for now.
