Jaiden's soccer team is playing in the State Cup this year.  They won their first game.  They have a game tonight that should be an intense game.  The girls are hoping to win.  The parents are hoping as well.  Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Today is my nephew Jake's birthday.  He is such a sweet kid.  He is turning 10.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE

I can't believe that it has been so long since I have posted.  I think that finally I will have some time now.  John is doing so much better and spring soccer season is almost over.  We have two more season games and then the State Cup starts on May 15th.  But I am going to start blogging regularly.  I am a member of 3 quilt guilds 2 block of the month clubs and 2 book groups.  I think that I may be over doing it. I will be done with 1 of the "block of the month" clubs next month.  I can't wait, this one has not been fun.

I guess that is all for now.  I will post something soon

John came home on Monday the 15th.  He is doing good.  The Dr. told him no food restrictions.  We have been trying to keep it mild.  Of course he went to soccer practice yesterday but he just watched.  He can't help himself when it come to soccer or the girls.  He was pretty worn out last night.  We have some Dr. apts this week and next.  Hopefully they will start him on the new medication.  The medication that is available now is so much better than what was available in the past.  We are hoping that it will work well and that he will start to gain some weight.  I told the Surgeon that I loved John so much that I would be willing to give him 30lbs of extra weight.  He didn't think that would work.  I would like to say "Thank you" to all of the people that helped us out!  I was amazed at how many people called, brought meals, and offered prayers.  I can't say how much John and I appreciate it.

John's Surgery March 8, 2010

As many of you may know my husband John had emergency surgery last Friday.  At about 12:30 AM the night before he woke me up to take him to the emergency room.  We have done this once before (about 12 years ago) that ended with life saving surgery, the loss of 18 inches of his small bowel (small intestine) and the diagnosis of Crones.   This time we got to the hospital, he had life saving surgery and lost all but 5 1/2 feet of his small bowel.  He is in ICU now and recovering.  The Dr.'s think he will be here for about 2 weeks.  We are currently waiting for all of his bowel's to wake up and start working.  Until that happens I still feel like the other shoe hasn't dropped.  He seems to be doing as well as could be expected.  He has been walking around and is in good spirits. They had to give him more blood today and that concerns me.  The Dr.s are telling me not to worry about it but that is what I do best.   We are all praying that the worst if over.

It has been a long time since I have blogged.  I have been so busy lately.  I have been staying up late watching the Olympics.  Last night was the finals for the women's skating.  What a great performance they all gave.  I was so moved by the Canada skater.  Her mother died suddenly on Sunday and she had to skate on Tuesday.  She took the Bronze medal in the end.
I have not weighed myself in over a week.  I have not been exercising lately.  I am going to start back on Monday.  I will weigh myself then.  Hopefully it isn't to bad.
Tonight we are going to see the Springville HS girls basketball team play in the state semi-finals.  I hope that they will win and go on to the finals on Saturday.  My niece Caitlin, is on the team.

Ice breakers Soccer Tournament - February 16, 2010

We just got back from St. George for the Ice Breakers Soccer Tournament.  The team finished 3 rd.  The girls were tied for first place on the last day.  In their last game the opposing team made a goal in the last 60 seconds of the game to win.  Jaiden and her teammates were upset to say the least.  It was a hard fought game.  The time that we spent in St. George was allot of fun.  We were staying at the same hotel as most of the other girls and their family's so we were all able to bond and grow as a team and as parents.  I have to say that after this weekend I am so EXCITED for the spring season to start.  We have missed it!!!!!

I have lost 3 more pounds for a total of 8.  I have been doing my workouts.  The sad thing is that you can't tell.  I can't tell.  I am hoping that soon I  will be able to see some results.  I got my hair cut this week.  I decided that I was tired of the same old style so I cut it short.  I haven't had my hair this short for years.  My husband doesn't like it but I like it.  It is easier and quicker.  As soon as she cut it I looked in the mirror and I thought " now I look like my Mom".  That is not a bad thing because my Mom was pretty but she was always my Mom.  I am not ready to be my Mom.  She was always old, not my age.  Any way, I will soon be posting pictures of my "skinny quilt".  I have all the fabric together and I am in the process of cutting it out.
